About us

Built by people who run live television every day

We are a professional hub for crews who put news programmes, interviews and live shows on air across the United Kingdom.

Our story

newswova began in 2014 when a small group of directors, engineers and camera operators started sharing the habits that kept their own galleries calm. What began as evening workshops in a borrowed studio has grown into a hub that trains regional newsrooms, independent studios and live event teams.

Today we cover every part of a live production: how equipment is integrated, how cameras move, how a set is lit, how a room sounds and how a crew communicates when the red light is on.

What we believe about live production

  • Craft first

Great live television starts with confident camera work, clean framing and shots that serve the story.

  • Clear light and sound

Faces that are lit well and voices that are heard well make every programme easier to watch.

  • Reliable processes

Checklists, rehearsals and redundancy turn stressful transmissions into routine ones.

  • Honest teaching

Small groups, real equipment and direct feedback from people who still work in galleries.

How we teach

Every session follows a real running order. Participants rotate through camera, gallery, sound and floor positions, so everyone understands the pressure and the needs of the person next to them.

  • Small groups of up to eight people per trainer
  • Live rehearsals with timed bulletins and interviews
  • Checklists and run sheets you can take back to your own studio
